A panel sponsored by the Boston Area Solar Energy Association
Admission is $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
The panelists will be Irving Sachs of the MA Division of Energy Resources, Danuta DRozdowicz of the Maien Division of economic and Community Development, and Karl Thidemann of Solectria.
Bike and pedestrian commuters might want to attend to add their perspective to this discussion which will probably focus on alternative fuel vehicles, solar and electric vehicles and fleet vehicle conversation.

Central Mass Rail-Trail Public Meeting
Thursday, October 3rd, 7:00pm at the Wayland Town Hall
A meeting will be held to discuss a proposal to build a rail-trail on the Central Massachusetts Line. This potential trail would extend from Waltham and Berlin, running for over twenty scenic miles as it passes through Weston, Wayland, Sudbury and Hudson and could include connections through Belmont. The study is being conducted by the Central Transportation Planning Staff at the request of the communities. This meeting will be your first opportunity to find out about the study and contribute your ideas and opinions concerning the proposal. A short presentation will be made at 7:00pm, followed by general discussion. The meeting is scheduled to end by 8:30pm.

Wayland Town Hall is located at the intersection of Routes 20 and 27. The driveway to the Town Hall is located off of Route 27, immediately south of Route 20. Turning onto Route 27 from Route 20, it is the first driveway on the right. Proceed around the building to the town hall parking lot.

MetroWest Growth Management Committee's Bicycle Task Force

State Bicycle Plan Public Meetings
The Massachusetts Highway Department has contracted with Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. (VHB), to develop a comprehensive Statewide Bicycle Transportation Plan to provide policies and practices to improve conditions for bicycling in the Commonwealth. The plan is scheduled to be completed in December. The second round of public meetings, at which findings and recommendations will be presented, is scheduled during mid-November. All those with an interest in improving bicycling conditions are urged to attend. All meetings are scheduled from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
The Draft Recommendations section of the Massachusetts Statewide Bicycle Transporation Plan are available on line at http://www.vhb.com/sbprweb2.htm. The Draft Recommendations are being prepared by Vanasse Hangen Brustlin, Inc. who are solely responsible for their contents. Please check this address for specifics of availability prior to the public meetings.

Central Mass Rail Trail Public Meeting
Wednesday, December 4 at 7:00 p.m at the Sudbury Town Hall
A recreational trail has been proposed to us the Central Massachusetts Railroad right-of-way from Waltham to Berlin, passing through Weston, Wayland, Sudbury and Hudson. Connections through Belmont are also being considered. This meeting is an opportunity to learn about the study and to contribute your ideas and opinions. This will be the last public meeting during the feasibility study phase of the project.
A short presentation will be made at 7:00 p.m., followed by general discussion. The meeting is scheduled to end by 8:30 p.m.

Upper Charles Trail Public Meeting
Thursday, December 5, 1996 at 7:30 PM at the Milford Town Hall.
The Metropolitan Area Planning Council will be holding a public meeting on the Upper Charles Trail Feasibility Study. The trail would begin in Framingham Center and go south through Sherborn and Holliston, into Milford and then head north to Hopkinton, Ashland and back into Framingham.
7:30 - 7:45 Overview of the Project: In July, 1996 the Metropolitan Area Planning Council recieved a grant from the Massachusetts Turnpike Authority to study the feasibility of the proposed Upper Charles Trail. There will be a brief review of the scope of work.
7:45 - 8:15 Existing Conditions: There will be a presentation on existing conditions on the right-of-way. The focus will be on the opportunities that exist for linking open spaces and town centers, as well as obstacles to completion of the path.
8:15 - 9:00 Public Comment: This will be an opportunity for all interested citizens to ask questions and raise issues that they would like to see addressed in the final report.
9:00 - 9:15 Next steps: There will be a brief discussion of the remainder of the study and what steps will be necessary beyond the study.
