Beyond the Charles River Bikepaths
Saturday, May 15, 2010
This year to kick off
Metro Boston's 9-day Bike Week,
we are going upriver from Waltham through Newton and Needham and back through
Wellesley and Weston, staying as close to the Charles River as we can and
looking for routes for a trail which would follow the Charles all of the
way to Dedham, eventually.
The Blue Heron Bridge was a highlight of the last ride.
- Where: start at
the upstream side of the Moody St. bridge over the Charles River in Waltham.
- When: Leave at 10am; plan on arriving by 9:45am to organize.
The ride shouldn't take much over 2 hours from whenever we start.
- Distance: about 17 miles.
- Pace: Relaxed, around 10 MPH.
- Terrain: Usually flat.
- Route: Off-road paved paths, a bit of unpaved path,
quiet streets, and a few brief stretches of busy streets.
- Leader: Doug Mink

Anywhere along the river, you can simply turn around and follow it
back to the starting point.
