Metro Boston Bike Week
Saturday, May 18, 2013

On this beautiful penultimate Bike Week day, I rode to Cambridge for a bike tour of that city's
candy manufacturing and culinary landmarks with 300 other people, feasting on Cambridge-made
Junior Mints and Sugar Daddies, formerly Cambridge-but-now-Revere-made Squirrel Nut Zippers,
and Somerville-made Flatbread Pizza and Taza Chocolate. Then it was back to Boston for
Franklin Park's annual Bike and Kite Festival, greeting friends, buying a cider donut from
one of my favorite bakers, and saying hi to my district city councilor who is running for
Mayor of Boston. Then off to tour some of Boston's and Brookline's bike facilities with
Bike Snob NYC, who is promoting a new book, and a ride home along the Emerald Necklace with
one of my best friends, with whom I have now biked at least once every day this week.
